Who is Chimp Stories?
My YouTube Journey
Hey there, I’m Chimp. Well, not literally. I’m just a guy with a weird obsession with monkeys, a laptop, and a dream to make it big on YouTube. Right now, my channel’s sitting at about 3,000 subscribers, which, to me, feels like having a tiny village cheering me on. It’s not a massive crowd, but it’s my crowd. And that’s enough to keep me going.
This is the story of how I got here. Fair warning: it involves a lot of trial and error, bad jokes, and a ton of monkey doodles.
The Humble Start
Growing up, I didn’t have much. My family wasn’t rolling in cash, so I learned pretty early on to make the best out of what I had. I think that’s where my creative streak came from—turning boredom into stories, doodles, or whatever nonsense I could come up with.
I was always the quiet kid. You wouldn’t catch me causing chaos in the middle of class or being the loud one at parties. That just wasn’t me. But I did love making people laugh in my own way. Whether it was through goofy drawings or awkward little jokes, I liked seeing people smile.
Monkeys, though? Monkeys were—and still are—my ultimate comedic inspiration. There’s something about how they move, how they act, how they seem like they’re up to something 24/7. They’re like the embodiment of chaos. And honestly, who doesn’t love a good monkey meme?
Discovering Animation
As much as I loved drawing and storytelling, animation didn’t cross my mind until much later. I always thought of it as something only super-talented pros could do—you know, the kind of people who work for Pixar or have 12 years of art school under their belt. That definitely wasn’t me. My doodles were rough, my patience was limited, and I wasn’t exactly brimming with confidence.
Then I found Sam O’Nella Academy.
If you haven’t watched Sam’s stuff, you’re missing out. It’s this perfect mix of hilarious storytelling, random historical facts, and purposely terrible animation. It’s like he took all the rules of polished content and threw them out the window. His videos made me realize something: you don’t have to be perfect to make people laugh. You just have to put yourself out there.
That idea stuck with me. I didn’t need to be a pro animator or have the best equipment. I just needed to start.
The First Steps
The first time I tried animating? Total disaster. I thought, “How hard can it be?” and, well, it turns out it can be very hard. My early attempts were a mess of wobbly lines, bad timing, and audio so rough it sounded like it was recorded through a tin can. But you know what? I kind of loved it.
There’s something fun about being bad at something when you know you can get better. Every time I finished a little test animation, I’d watch it back, laugh at how janky it was, and then think, “Alright, let’s try that again.”
Around this time, I also started watching other creators for inspiration. JonTron’s chaotic humor, Smiling Friends’ absurdity, Bridge Kids’ clever writing, and Jaiden Animations’ personal yet funny stories—all of it fueled me to keep going.
The Birth of Chimp Stories
One of the hardest parts of starting a YouTube channel is figuring out what the heck you’re going to make. For me, it came down to this: I wanted to tell stories, make people laugh, and maybe even teach them something along the way. History, random facts, self-improvement, nature—you name it, I wanted to talk about it.
But I didn’t want it to feel serious. I wanted it to feel like we were just hanging out, laughing at the weirdness of the world. And, of course, I had to include monkeys.
That’s how Chimp Stories was born.
The name felt perfect. It captured everything I wanted my channel to be—fun, a little silly, and focused on storytelling.
The Wall of Fame
One of the best decisions I’ve ever made for my channel was creating the Wall of Fame. Every time someone subscribes, I draw them as a monkey and add them to the wall. It’s my way of saying, “Hey, thanks for being here. You’re officially part of the Chimpiverse now.”
At first, it was just a fun little idea, but it’s turned into something bigger. Seeing the wall grow feels surreal. Every monkey drawing is a reminder that there are real people out there who believe in what I’m doing.
Plus, let’s be honest: drawing monkeys is hilarious.
Balancing Life and YouTube
Here’s something they don’t tell you about being a YouTuber: it’s a lot of work. I do everything myself—the scripting, animating, voiceovers, editing. Some days, it feels like I’m juggling a million things at once.
Since English isn’t my first language, writing scripts takes extra effort. I want my jokes to land, my facts to be accurate, and my personality to shine through. That means rewriting, re-recording, and sometimes scrapping entire sections if they don’t feel right.
I also try to post once a month, which isn’t always easy. Some nights, I’m up way too late, staring at my screen, wondering why I decided to animate a scene with 50 moving parts. But then I remember why I’m doing this. I remember the comments from people who say my videos made their day or taught them something new. And that makes it worth it.
The Gym and the Grind
When I’m not working on videos, I like to hit the gym. It’s my way of staying sane and keeping some balance in my life. There’s something about lifting weights and zoning out to music that clears my head. Plus, it helps me stay energized for those long nights of animating.
It’s funny, though—sometimes I’ll be mid-set, and an idea for a skit or video will pop into my head. I’ll end up scrambling to write it down in my notes before I forget. Inspiration really does strike at the weirdest times.
Learning and Growing
YouTube is a constant learning process. Every video teaches me something new, whether it’s a better way to animate, a trick to improve audio, or just how to manage my time better.
I still have so much to learn, and that’s okay. I’m not in a rush to “make it big.” I’m focused on getting better, one step at a time.
My ultimate dream is to turn this into something bigger, to reach more people, and to make Chimp Stories a channel that people genuinely love. I want it to be a place where you can laugh, learn, and maybe even feel a little inspired.
Why I Keep Going
Some days are harder than others. There are times when I question if I’m good enough or if this dream is even realistic. But then I remember why I started.
I started because I love creating. I started because I want to share stories and laughter with people. I started because, deep down, I believe in this dream.
So, that’s where I’m at. A guy with a laptop, a love for monkeys, and a whole lot of determination.
Thanks for being part of this journey. Whether you’ve been here since day one or you just found the channel, you’re the reason I keep going. Here’s to more stories, more monkeys, and more ridiculousness.
